Tim Philips & Pingüino
25/02/2009

Tim is running for Todos Juntos and collecting funds at  http://www.justgiving.com/atacamacrossing2009
We are putting those funds towards the new dental chair in our next (and third) free clinic,  Sonrisa III in Villa Independencia.

This is no regular run nor race. Its the Atacama Crossing race - http://www.4deserts.com/atacamacrossing - part of a series of desert races voted the second hardest endurance event in the world by Time Magazine earlier this year, beaten to the post by the Dakar Rally . All competitors carry everything needed for the 7 days: food, water, clothing, sleeping bag etc. the race starts at over 3,000m above sea level, and is equivalent in distance to a horizontal crossing of Chile, from the Pacific to the border with Argentina. The race starts on 29th March 2009

We took Tim into Villa Independencia  on Tuesday 24th Feb to see our future Sonrisa III and that is where he found “Pingüino” – a little kitten that dragged his tiny wet body out of a drain .
Our deepest gratitude goes to Tim for making the start up of Sonrisa III possible – we wish him a safe and successful crossing
Our thanks also to all who have sponsored him .

Tim and Pingüino the lucky kitten!
